The evolution of video games

video games are basically electronic game and have got its name because it has a display device for the gamer to see and play. The electronic gadgets that are used to play video games are called platforms. Initially when the first generation of games were developed they were interactive fiction or text adventures in which the players had to key in commands through the key board to interact with the computer. It was developed way back in 1976 by Will Crowther.

A video game can be classified into different categories such as casual games, serious games and educational games. Casual games are easily accessible, simple to understand and rules and regulations are not very complex or stringent. Casual games allow the player to get in or get out as they wish without posing any difficulty.

Serious games are designed in such a way that it imparts information and give the player an experience to learn. Some games are so serious that they even fail to qualify in the video games arena. Serious games are designed with keeping some reasons in mind and are beyond plain entertainment. They are basically designed to be played by a professional player as a part of some specific job. It is also used for skill development.

Educational games come in various forms, starting from spellings to counting for children to games for grown ups. Some games do not specify any target and is only intended to educate people. But in recent times video games have become much more professional.
